Walking on Sunshine- Intense 365 Month 3
Ok, so you’re braving the elements on a daily? How’s it going?
What does walking around trying not to get hit by cars, not bit by misquotes, not get chased by deer (yeah seriously) and a litany of other things actually do? It may seem hokey, but it can often be the only time in a busy day that I am connected in the universe via mind and body.
…uh what?
Yeah, let’s take a spiritual moment.
You get in and out of your car, the train, the bus, whatever.
You pop in and out of stores, of structures of beautiful buildings, and boxes with logos on the front.
Being in the moment, being present is difficult. Most distractions from the “outside” world we have are actually INSIDE all of these structures, (and of course your phone).
Sure, you are in space, and you hopefully see other humans doing human things; laughing, crying, irritating you, but even though you are in this moment with others (excellent by the way) it’s still not enough because it is a means to an end, not the point.
Meaning we spend a lot of time being busy in this world and not being where we are.
When you go OUTSIDE and walk for 10 min you see all these same things, but you are outside of them, you see (if you are lucky) some other parts of nature, the sky, you breathe the air you see yourself and others in space, not just the spaces we have created.
Ten minutes of walking and experiencing life, all of it at once re-calibrates your being.
Feeling moody? Go outside.
Feel stuck? Go outside.
Feel sick? Yah, likely still go outside.
Being outside is not the “cure” for everything, but it does help to put some things into perspective. If you let it, this can be a starter pack to meditation.
One key’s of meditation is to your to let your mind rest for a bit by pulling yourself into the now.
Nothing can pull you into the now like avoiding stepping in dog crap! (also jerk off please pick up your dog’s crap).
WOOSAH.
If you have the will, you can make the time and put one foot in front of the other and go outside.
Maybe you noticed the month is almost over.
Thus its’s time to figure out what new thing needs to be added to the pile of goodness that we are accumulating. I am mulling over a few things to take on, and I hope you are too. Check Monday when at least MY decision will be made.
If you’re in my area, please come find me at Sandalwood Shoppes where I will be talking about this and happy to take suggestions, or feel free to comment below or on my Instagram or FB.
Never feel like you are behind if you showed up today you are right on time.
Figure out what I’m yammering about and catch up on my journey below with some tips along the way.
Read up , but remember you can do what you need for YOUR journey.
Always Intense
Always Marika
There is a myriad of diets, workouts, and tips out there to capture the heart and minds of the masses. I will clear out some of the noise and give you the first diet you need to be on before you can truly succeed in any meaningful way.
Nothing can help to get your thoughts in order more than putting pen to paper. Moreover, after the year we just had, I’m guessing you have a lot on your mind.
I went into covid times with a pretty solid comfortability with little contact with others (re I cry alone) and daily helpings of ambiguity for breakfast.
Things are getting done and fires are extinguished, but I do not FEEL like I’m winning…why?
In our quest for survival, situation notwithstanding, most of us are maintaining with a combination of determination and apathy.
…in the past, I was building a castle, but this round, I'm just working on a rambler (that I can upgrade later).
…you will offer it up on the chopping block, but don't. This is why it's called a CHALLENGE.
This month's challenge will not change the randomness of life and death events, but it will increase your odds of having a loving convo with someone you care about before you no longer have the option.
If you have ever been in a situation where you were fearful or upset, you must have realized that doing nothing made it worse.
I'm not here to judge "our" drinking problem, I am trying to get us better hydrated.
I’m only asking that you start the process, I’m not asking you to sweat, I’m asking you to schedule.
What the hell happened here?
This sentence was repeated as I stepped on the scale last Sunday.
What does walking around trying not to get hit by cars, not bit by misquotes, not get chased by deer (yeah seriously) actually do?
Life happens outside of your apartment; it just does, and you can’t be a part of it if you’re indoors.
You don’t need to be a foodie to like novelty in your food life. We ALL like novelty in our lives in one form or another, but to achieve some level of success in hitting your personal goals, you gotta maintain a routine.
Before anyone opens their mouth to point out that McDonald’s sells salads and that restaurants can be even worse than a drive-thru,
I know.
I am not here to argue the merits of any of that,
because I don’t care and this isn’t court.
The truth of the matter was my last week or so was filled with an obscene amount of fast food.
Like gross levels.
There is a myriad of diets, workouts, and tips out there to capture the heart and minds of the masses. I will clear out some of the noise and give you the first diet you need to be on before you can truly succeed in any meaningful way.
Real talk: We got a whole a** year to get through, it’s not always going to be smooth sailing.

I realized that I no longer needed the same amount of comfort I did in April of 2020.
