Intense 365 Month 4: Be Prepared (Food Prep)
As I spoke about previously, I was running into a wall with my other month’s challenges.
A chip slip soon turned into drive-thru damnation and ended in an innocent enough sandwich and talk of a cookie.
What the hell happened here?
This sentence was repeated as I stepped on the scale last Sunday.
Action needs to be taken, but like, which?
Searching through space and time, I recounted the last time my hand was forearm deep into a bag of chips, why?
I was stressed out.
I was trying to stay up late.
I was working on a lot of content.
These things stress me out, and when I have to work on the computer for an extended period, this can sometimes be the result.
Another factoid was I would open my cabinet, and I didn’t OWN anything but tea and some Trader Joes Coconut chips (not actual chips).
How in the hell am I supposed to avoid all the trappings of convenience if I have no food?
I’m no magician, I can’t pull a rabbit stew out of a hat (sorry vegans).
Salads with chopped cucumber and seared asparagus don’t just “appear” I gotta get the food, and then I gotta do something with it… like,
Wash it.
Cut it.
Cook it.
For me, this feels a bit like bringing it back to basics, but this is also the point of #INTENSE365 if something isn’t quite clicking this is the way you figure it out and change it up for overall success so.
This month’s challenge is:
Food Prep for at least 1-hour 2x’s a week.
This is the type of party that doesn’t start to you get here.
If you showed up today you are right on time.
Figure out what I’m yammering about and catch up on my journey below with some tips along the way.
Read up , but remember you can do what you need for YOUR journey.
Always Intense
Always Marika
There is a myriad of diets, workouts, and tips out there to capture the heart and minds of the masses. I will clear out some of the noise and give you the first diet you need to be on before you can truly succeed in any meaningful way.
Nothing can help to get your thoughts in order more than putting pen to paper. Moreover, after the year we just had, I’m guessing you have a lot on your mind.
I went into covid times with a pretty solid comfortability with little contact with others (re I cry alone) and daily helpings of ambiguity for breakfast.
Things are getting done and fires are extinguished, but I do not FEEL like I’m winning…why?
In our quest for survival, situation notwithstanding, most of us are maintaining with a combination of determination and apathy.
…in the past, I was building a castle, but this round, I'm just working on a rambler (that I can upgrade later).
…you will offer it up on the chopping block, but don't. This is why it's called a CHALLENGE.
This month's challenge will not change the randomness of life and death events, but it will increase your odds of having a loving convo with someone you care about before you no longer have the option.
If you have ever been in a situation where you were fearful or upset, you must have realized that doing nothing made it worse.
I'm not here to judge "our" drinking problem, I am trying to get us better hydrated.
I’m only asking that you start the process, I’m not asking you to sweat, I’m asking you to schedule.
What the hell happened here?
This sentence was repeated as I stepped on the scale last Sunday.
What does walking around trying not to get hit by cars, not bit by misquotes, not get chased by deer (yeah seriously) actually do?
Life happens outside of your apartment; it just does, and you can’t be a part of it if you’re indoors.
You don’t need to be a foodie to like novelty in your food life. We ALL like novelty in our lives in one form or another, but to achieve some level of success in hitting your personal goals, you gotta maintain a routine.
Before anyone opens their mouth to point out that McDonald’s sells salads and that restaurants can be even worse than a drive-thru,
I know.
I am not here to argue the merits of any of that,
because I don’t care and this isn’t court.
The truth of the matter was my last week or so was filled with an obscene amount of fast food.
Like gross levels.

Real talk: We got a whole a** year to get through, it’s not always going to be smooth sailing.

I realized that I no longer needed the same amount of comfort I did in April of 2020.
