Intense 365 Month 12: The End of Fast Food
Welcome to the final month of Intense 365.
Not gonna lie; for some reason, this final challenge is feeling a bit anticlimactic…
Maybe cause the post is a week late, or perhaps it’s just cause 2020 took a lot out of me.
It’s 2021, and spring is coming into focus and change on the horizon, it is definitely a hopeful time, but this challenge for me is a last string tying me to the year prior; and I’m ready to tie it off and move ahead.
In this final month, I have decided to finally
put fast food on the chopping block.
Perhaps to some, it may seem simple enough.
“Sure,
why not,
easy,
especially when you can get all kinds of food delivery?”
Agreed, but what has been surprising to me, though, is just how interesting McDonald’s can make a chicken sandwich look….
Also, what is going on with Wendy’s and all the jalapenos?
With our lives still largely seen through phones and computer screens, and with our streaming habits feeling like a job, the novelty you can get staring at a drive-through menu can be intoxicating.
The bright colors, the different fonts, the lights, it’s like being in Vegas
or the Whitney
“Wow I really am going to miss this, huh?”
Well the reality is we know it never tastes as good as it looks and the power it truly has lies in the instant gratification of it all; and not to mention it mostly being hot (I challenge you to enjoy anything from Taco Bell cold) 😑.
Plus, the obvious major downside is
IT’s MORE CALORIES THAN IT’s WORTH.
For the past year, I didn’t prioritize weight loss or any sort of hardcore exercise simply because that wasn’t the most important thing to work on; getting through the year was enough.
Recently, however, I have been having a low-key love affair with my Vitamix (I have been quietly taking pics of my drinks almost daily) and intermittent fasting.
Meanwhile, I have also lately been doing the thing where
I put on clothes,
match them,
then leave the house a bit…
I thought to myself,
“wouldn’t it be nice if more than just my loose jeans and these sweats fit?”
And so my weight loss journey begins….
Anyways fast food is —>convenience food—> is comfort food
and in this final month of a year of (abject) intensity,
I realized that I no longer needed the same amount of comfort I did in April of 2020.
So it seemed fitting to cut the final cord and give up fast food.
This year, this time is as good as any to recognize that we can no longer just live in comfort but rather work towards something a little more solid.
To be healthy is no small thing, and while you can’t protect yourself from all the world’s ills that may befall you, you can give yourself a better shot, and that shot is likely not on the dollar menu.
This is it from me for a while. I will still be living intensely so don’t you worry about that but this is a pause on the monthly update.
For you though if you are just getting started or found this today don’t let that stop you from moving forward (don’t worry I’ll catch up to you)!
The Rules are below:
If you have a question, wanna share a win (or a loss) leave a comment or find me on my socials.
You don’t have to wait for a Monday, or the 1st or even a new day.
Your future self can begin now.
This is the phrase for which “No Regrets” is meant for.
Never Not Intense-
